Public AEDs
Publicly Distributed AED Program
Automated External Defibrillators are used to administer an electric shock and restore the heart’s normal rhythm, playing a key part in saving a life. 90% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive when treated with an AED during the first 3 minutes.
Community Ambulance has worked with local schools and businesses to help place extra AEDs around it’s communities to help increase the chances of survival of it’s residents.
For more information for business owners please contact our secretary at: (631) 567-2586
An AED is most effective when combined with CPR. Sign up for a free CPR class.
How to Use an AED
- Power on the AED — open the lid or press the power button
- Attach the electrode pads as shown in the diagram on the pads
- Let the AED analyze the heart rhythm — do not touch the patient
- Deliver the shock if the AED advises it
- Resume CPR and continue until emergency services arrive
