About Us
Who Are We?
Community Ambulance Company, Inc. proudly protects about 50,000 people living in an area of 20 square miles. Founded 1950, Community Ambulance Company provides 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, emergency medical service to Sayville, West Sayville, Bayport, Oakdale and Bohemia. In that 20 miles, we cover a very diverse area including Long Island MacArthur Airport, sections of Sunrise, Montauk and Veteran’s Highway, residential and commercial areas, railroad tracks, beaches and parks, and 15 schools across 3 school districts.
How Busy Are We?
At Community Ambulance Company, we see an ever increasing number of alarms each year. We operate out of one station that protects the primarily residential area of Bayport, Bohemia, Oakdale, Sayville and West Sayville. We also work closely with the Cherry Grove Fire Department and provide Advance Life Support EMS on Fire Island during the beautiful Long Island summers from May through October.

What Kind Of Members Do We Have?
Our members come from very diverse backgrounds including college students, teachers, business executives, medical professionals, lawyers and retirees. Our company’s members are on a volunteer status. We hold different levels of membership at our company; from those interested in joining as our Observers, high schoolers as our Youth Squad, members-in-training known as Probationary Members, Full Members, as well as, member who have attained Life Membership Status.
What Do We Do When We’re Not On Alarms?
Besides responding to alarms, we participate in drills and trainings such as water rescue training and mass casualty incident drills, and other preparatory trainings. We do standby events for our community, such as local town 5k runs, town festivals such as Seafood Fest and Summer Fest. We also participate in local parades by bringing available vehicles and marching with our members! It’s events like these (and many others we participate in) that make our community open to what we have to offer and how we truly live up to the phrase ‘neighbors helping neighbors’.
What Kind Of Alarms Do We Respond To?
Community Ambulance Company responds to almost any emergency you can imagine from babies just a few days old to the elderly! Some examples of the calls we get are sick calls, falls, structure fires, motor vehicle accidents (train, plane, boat, automobile, etc.), traumatic emergencies, medical emergencies (Strokes, seizures, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, etc.), cardiac arrests, pregnancy/delivery calls, and anything else our community may need us for!
